Bring your Granola and Fireflies meeting history into Timeglass

Switch meeting tools without starting your history from scratch.

You want to try a new meeting note taker. Then you remember the months of client calls, decisions, and follow-ups in the one you already use. Starting over would mean leaving behind conversations you still need.

That was the problem customers brought to us. They wanted to use Timeglass for new meetings and keep their earlier conversations in the same place. You can now import meeting notes, summaries, and transcripts from Granola, Fireflies, or supported exported files.

Once imported, those meetings appear in the Meetings tab alongside calls recorded in Timeglass. Scroll back to a conversation from before you joined, open the notes, and pick up where you left off.

What comes with your meeting history?

The import keeps the content available from your source. Granola brings notes, summaries, and transcripts. Fireflies can also bring available audio and video when you choose to include recordings. With files, you choose the transcripts, notes, and recordings to upload.

Granola does not provide retained audio recordings, so a Granola import will not add a recording player. A meeting with only notes stays a notes-only meeting. Timeglass does not create a missing transcript or generate a new report for an imported meeting.

Imported meetings are labelled with their source. Attendees and speakers can be matched to workspace members by email, helping the history reach the people who were part of the conversation.

How to import Granola notes into Timeglass

A Timeglass workspace administrator can start under Settings → Import → Meetings. Choose Granola to import directly using an API key. Granola requires a Business or Enterprise plan for API access.

  1. In Granola, open Settings → Connectors → API keys and create a key with the note access you need. Granola also offers workspace API keys for administrators.
  2. Copy the key into the Granola import in Timeglass and check the connection.
  3. Review the date range, including how far back you want to go, then start the import.
  4. Follow the import counts and check any reported failures. Open the Meetings tab to review the imported history.

A key can only bring across notes it can access. Personal keys follow the owner’s access and selected scopes; workspace keys cover shared notes available to that key, rather than everyone’s private history. See Granola’s API guide when choosing the right key.

How to export your notes from Granola

If you want a separate copy of your history, Granola also has a bulk CSV export:

  1. Click your workspace name in Granola, open Settings → Profile, and choose Generate CSV.
  2. Choose the workspaces to include. Granola emails the export within a few hours.
  3. Download it while signed into the account that requested it. The link lasts 24 hours.

The export contains titles, summaries, transcripts, and basic note details. It includes your own notes with summaries, including older history, but excludes deleted notes and notes without summaries. It does not export the whole team’s private notes. Enterprise administrators may need to enable data export. Granola limits requests to one export per account every 24 hours. See the official export instructions.

Keep that CSV as a backup. Timeglass’s meeting file importer does not accept CSV or ZIP archives directly. If you already have a ZIP of exported notes, extract it first and check the files inside. Supported text, Markdown, Word, VTT, or SRT files can use the file route below; a CSV needs to be converted into supported files, with each meeting kept separate. The direct Granola connection avoids that preparation.

For a few individual notes, Granola’s Copy enhanced notes option copies the summary as Markdown. Copy the transcript separately from its transcript panel if you want that too, and save the content in supported files. Granola’s sharing guide explains the difference.

How to import Fireflies meetings

In Timeglass, open Settings → Import → Meetings and choose Fireflies. Get your key from Settings → Developer settings → API key in Fireflies, paste it into Timeglass, and check the connection. An administrator’s Fireflies key can import the team history available to it.

Review the date range and decide whether to include audio and video. Recording availability depends on the original meeting and your Fireflies access and plan. You can import available notes and transcripts without selecting recordings.

Start the import and follow its progress. If Fireflies rate limits the requests, the run can pause and resume later; a pause does not mean you need to start again.

Prefer to export individual meetings? Fireflies offers downloads for transcripts, summaries, audio, and video. Its download guide lists plan requirements and formats. For the Timeglass file importer, choose supported formats such as DOCX, SRT, or Markdown, with speaker labels and timestamps where available.

Import transcripts and recordings from exported files

The Files option is useful when your history comes from another note taker or you already have an export folder. The transcript parser has been checked against exports from Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Otter.

  1. Gather the files for each meeting. Supported choices include VTT, SRT, TXT, Markdown, and DOCX for text, plus recordings such as MP4, M4A, and MP3. Extract ZIP archives before selecting files.
  2. Choose Files in the meeting importer and add the files or folder. Timeglass groups related files into meetings.
  3. Review the proposed titles, dates, times, and durations. Correct guessed dates and map speakers to workspace members where appropriate.
  4. Start the import and review the result, including any skipped files or failures.

You can import a transcript without a recording, a recording without a transcript, or notes on their own. What you see in the meeting depends on what you brought across. Check a few meetings before moving a large archive, especially if the filenames do not contain dates.

Your old conversations, ready for the next one

A useful meeting history includes the calls that happened before you installed a new tool. When a client refers to a decision from last quarter, you should be able to go back to that conversation without switching between note takers.

Imported transcripts are also available through Timeglass MCP, subject to meeting access permissions. An assistant connected to Timeglass can retrieve that earlier conversation alongside the work records you already use. For example, ask it to find the agreed scope in a past client call before preparing your next agenda.

Each import has a progress view and history. Re-running the same source skips meetings already imported, and Undo removes the meetings that run created. Imports are a way to bring history across; they are not a continuous two-way sync.

Common Questions

FAQ

Can I import Granola notes without a Business or Enterprise plan?

Granola’s direct API connection requires Business or Enterprise. Its CSV export is available on Basic too, subject to workspace settings, but CSV is not a supported input for the Timeglass meeting file importer. Convert the content into supported per-meeting files, or use supported individual note and transcript exports.

Will my imported meetings include audio?

Only if audio is available and included in the import. Fireflies can supply recordings depending on your plan and access, and the file importer accepts supported recordings. Granola imports do not include audio recordings.

Can I undo an import or run it again?

Yes. Undo removes the meetings created by that import run. Re-running the same source skips meetings already imported. Review the run’s counts and failures to see what was added.

Does importing old meetings create historical timesheets?

Meeting imports add meeting records, not historical time entries. Timeglass has a separate time-entry importer for that purpose.
