Permissions
How permissions fit together
The three layers: visibility, editing rights, and timesheet release rules.
Timeglass permissions are split across three settings areas. Check them in this order: what a role can see, what it can change, and how timesheets are released.
The three questions
- What can this role see? Use Settings > Security > Data Access. This controls Timesheets, Projects, Meetings, and Exports visibility.
- What can this role change? Use Settings > Security > Data Management. This controls time edits, project management, and team data changes.
- When does a day become visible to managers? Use Settings > Workspace > Timesheets. This controls employee review, release, auto-release, auto adjustments, and flags.
The standard member setup
For normal hourly tracking, members can see their own timesheet, edit and categorize their own time, then submit or release the day before managers review it.
- Members Timesheets is Own time.
- Manage Own Personal Data is On.
- Approvals & Visibility is On.
