Permissions

Data Management permissions

Control who can edit time, activity, project, and team records.

Data Management answers the editing question. It controls who can change time, activity, project, and team records after the data is visible.

Manage Own Personal Data

This setting means a user can edit their own time and activity data. It covers actions like changing minutes, reassigning a project, adding untracked work, hiding off-task time, and categorizing activity.

Profile details such as name and photo live elsewhere. If this switch is Off, a member may still view their own timesheet when Timesheets access allows it, but the editing controls are unavailable.

Manage Team Data

This setting controls who can edit activity and time records for a team. The stricter option allows admins and managers. The broader option also allows team members to manage records assigned to their own team.

Manage Projects

This setting controls project actions: create, edit, complete, reopen, and delete. It is separate from whether someone can edit their own time.

Common questions

Does Manage Own Personal Data mean profile details?

No. In this setting, personal data means the user's own time and activity data.

Can someone release time without editing it?

Yes. Release and edit permissions are separate.
