Common permission setups

Standard hourly workflow, auto-release backup, view-only exceptions, and manager review.

Start with the standard hourly member workflow. Change one layer at a time when the customer needs a tighter or broader setup.

Standard hourly member workflow

  1. Let members see their own time
In Data Access, members use the fixed Own time Timesheets scope.
  2. Let members fix their own entries
In Data Management, turn Manage Own Personal Data On.
  3. Require release before manager review
In Timesheet Settings, turn Approvals & Visibility On.

With this setup, members edit and categorize their own time, then submit or release it. Managers and admins review released time and flagged days.

Add auto-release as a backup

Keep the standard setup and set Auto Release to the number of days the workspace wants to wait. Members still own the review step, but stale unreviewed days are released automatically after the delay.

View-only member exception

Use this for a member who should read their own timesheet while admins keep edit control. SetManage Own Personal Data Off. If the member should also skip the release step, turnApprovals & Visibility Off.

Manager team review

Make the person a Manager on the team they oversee. Their Timesheets access becomes managed time for that team and child teams. Keep Manage Team Data on the admins-and-managers option when managers should edit or review team data.
