Desktop app
Choose what gets captured
Set capture mode to Everything, All but these, or Only these.
Capture mode sets which apps and websites the desktop app records on this computer.
The three modes
- Everything: records every app and website.
- All but these: records everything except what you exclude.
- Only these: records only what you allow.
New installs start on All but these, with password managers and personal messaging apps already excluded.
Change your mode
- Go to Settings → Privacy → App & Website Capture.
- Under Capture mode, select a mode.
- Select Add on the Apps or Websites list, pick what to include or exclude, and save.
- Select Save changes.
Each mode keeps its own lists, so switching back restores them.
Website rules cover subdomains
A rule for bank.com also covers secure.bank.com. Add a path, such as example.com/private, to cover one section of a site. You can add up to 500 rules.
Only these needs your browser too
Add your browser to Apps and each work site to Websites. If you allow the browser and no sites, Timeglass records no browser time.
Workspace policies lock the mode
If your admin has set a mode, you’ll see Mode selected by your workspace and can’t change it. You can still add your own apps and sites. Items marked Set by your workspace can’t be removed.
What happens to skipped time
Timeglass takes no screenshot and marks the time Restricted, without the window title or web address. Excluded apps show as Private Application. While this happens, Home shows Excluded by your capture filters.
In All but these and Only these, Timeglass captures only the active window, so other monitors stay out of the screenshot.
Meetings in excluded apps aren’t recorded
A browser meeting on an excluded website is different. It still records audio if meeting recording is on, titled Restricted and without the address.
