Export columns and rows

What each column means, and how columns decide what a row represents.

The columns you include decide what each row of an export represents. The columns panel always shows the result, such as One row per activity group.

How columns set the rows

Each descriptive column splits the rows further. With only Full name and Hours, you get one row per person. Add Project and each person gets a row per project. Add Date and the rows split again by day. Period start and Period end label the range without splitting rows.

Activity group and Activity

  • Activity group: one row per activity on a timesheet. These groupings are what people review and managers approve.
  • Activity: one row per individual activity inside those groups. Pair it with Start time and End time for a minute-by-minute record.

Available columns

  • Time: Date, Period start, Period end, Start time, End time, and Hours.
  • Contributors & teams: Full name, First name, Last name, Email, and Team.
  • Work: Activity group, Activity, Client, Project, Category, and Subcategory.
  • Metrics: Billable value, Labor cost, Billable rate, Internal cost rate, Hours without billable rate, and Currency.

Metrics appear only for people with access to financial data. Client appears when your workspace uses clients.

Rename and reorder

In the columns panel, use Arrange to drag columns into order and rename them. You can also rename, drag, or remove a column from its header in the preview, or add one with Add column.

A new export’s default columns

New exports start with Period start, Period end, First name, Last name, Email, Team, Client, Project, Category, Subcategory, Activity group, and Hours, sorted by last name, first name, and activity group.
