Grant macOS permissions

What Screen Recording, Accessibility, and Microphone allow, plus repair steps.

On macOS, Timeglass asks for three system permissions. Each permission covers a specific part of capture. Grant all three so the app can identify active work, read the screen when allowed, and transcribe meetings you approve. Windows does not require these permissions.

The three permissions

• Screen Recording: lets the app capture screen content, which is how it understands what work was actually done.
• Accessibility: lets it identify the active application for accurate tracking (which app and window you’re in).
• Microphone: lets it record audio during meetings so calls can be transcribed.

You approve all three to finish setup. If you’d rather not have meetings recorded, turn meeting recording off later in Settings. The microphone permission is only used when you do record one.

Grant the permissions

   In the app’s Enable Permissions screen, click Allow on a permission card.

   macOS opens the matching pane in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Toggle Timeglass on.

   Return to the app. It checks each permission automatically and moves on once all three are granted.

If a permission won’t stick

If capture seems stuck after you’ve granted Screen Recording, macOS has usually suspended it and needs re-confirming:

   Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording.

   Toggle Timeglass off, then on again.

   Quit and reopen Timeglass from the menu bar.
