Desktop app

Install the desktop app

Download, link your device, and get recording on Mac or Windows.

Timeglass runs quietly in your menu bar (macOS) or system tray (Windows). Installing it takes about two minutes, and once it’s linked, captured work starts landing on your timesheet.

1. Download the app

Open your Timeglass dashboard, choose Install desktop app from the sidebar, and download the version for your computer:

  • macOS if you’re on a Mac.
  • Windows if you’re on a PC.

On first launch, the app shows a Link Your Device screen. Connect it from your browser:

  1. Click Link to Account
The app opens your web browser to a Timeglass connection page.
  2. Approve the connection
Confirm it in your browser. The app links automatically and you’re ready to go.

Linking ties the app to your workspace and your account, so captured work lands on the right timesheet.

3. Grant permissions (macOS)

On a Mac, the app needs a few system permissions before it can see which app you’re working in and capture your screen. It walks you through Screen Recording, Accessibility, and Microphone. See Grant macOS permissions for the step-by-step. Windows doesn’t require this.

4. Pick your workspace

If you belong to more than one workspace, choose where captured work should go. You can change this later in Settings.

Common questions

Which operating systems are supported?

macOS and Windows.

Will it slow down my computer?

No. Timeglass runs quietly in the background and captures a lightweight snapshot on a short interval. It’s designed to be unnoticeable in daily use.

Can I run it on more than one computer?

Yes. Link each device the same way, and work from all of them lands on the same timesheet.
