Timesheets
How timesheet totals are calculated
Tracked time, adjustments, hidden time, and why two totals can differ.
A timesheet total is your tracked work time plus any adjustments you made in review. Hidden and off-task time is never counted.
What counts as tracked time
Tracked time is the captured time Timeglass has analyzed and placed in an activity. It leaves out three kinds of time:
- Time Timeglass judged to be off task, such as a personal break.
- Activities you or your manager hid.
- Recent work still being prepared, shown under Not ready for review.
How adjustments change the total
You can change an activity’s reported time, or set a new total for the whole day in review. The difference shows as an adjustment. When you open a day in the team view, the panel shows the day’s total, its tracked time, and any adjustments separately.
Why Home can show a different number
The Logged today figure on Home also includes time that is still processing, so it doesn’t read zero while analysis catches up. Your timesheet total catches up once that recent time is prepared into activities.
Why a team grid cell shows two numbers
In the team timesheet, a day cell can split its time into separate lines. Unlike your own timesheet total, the team grid also counts recent work that is still being prepared.
- A figure with a hollow dot is time the person hasn’t submitted yet, including work still being prepared.
- A figure with a solid dot is time already on the timesheet.
- A plus or minus figure is time that changed since a manager reviewed the day.
The row’s total column adds up each kind of time the same way.
Other common reasons totals differ
- Activities moved to Hidden drop out of every total and report.
- Reports and exports use the same records as timesheets, so a reviewed change also changes reported totals.
